2005 RV Preview (February)

Coachman® EpicTM
With a floor-to-ceiling distance of 85" the tallest ceiling in the RV industry the 2006 Coachmen® Epic™ casts a tall shadow over the Class A landscape, especially when combined with its sleek design, extensive creature comforts and residential-style décor. Having such a high ceiling creates more room everywhere:

  • It allows the Terrace Birch cabinets to be taller for more storage room.
  • A 27" flat screen TV fits easily in the front overhead cabinet, providing great viewing.
  • In the bedroom, the TV cabinet is roomy enough for a 20" flat screen TV.

The entire interior is brightened by fluorescent ceiling lights throughout, plus a hallway skylight, which highlights satin nickel hardware, a Boston booth dinette and plush lounge chair and hide-a-bed sofa. In the galley, epic meals await with a three-burner range with a 21-inch oven, a microwave oven, a double-door, flush-mount refrigerator, and laminated counter top. The double-bowl stainless steel sink comes with sink covers and single-lever faucets, along with a water purifier for fresh, clean drinking water.

The queen bed with a headboard, bedspread and 312-coil deluxe innerspring mattress allows for sound sleeping. Adding to the comfort: a 13,500 BTU roof air conditioner, and the 35,000 BTU electronic ignition furnace. Indirect tube lights in the kitchen and bath prevent harsh glare at night or early morning.

Ready for the long haul, the Epic is built on Ford and Workhorse raised-rail chassis. Each has a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating of 22,000 pounds, and they ride smoothly on 22-1/2" radial tires with aluminum rims. The raised-rail chassis provides increased exterior storage, including pass-through compartments with roto-mold storage boxes, and all the compartments are lighted. Bus-style compartment doors make for easy access to the storage compartments.

The view of the road while traveling is improved with the larger, flatter windshield, and the side view mirrors that are one-third larger than mirrors on comparable models.

Convenience is part of the Epic's many delights. It has an integrated gas fill in the rear, so you can fill the tank from either side.

The Epic has an abundant list of options, starting with a Premier Package that includes a VCR/DVD combo, a rear-mounted roof ladder, a 5.5 KW gas generator and more. Among the stand-alone options are a freestanding dinette with four chairs and an arched window, an exterior entertainment center, a convection oven, a two-way radio package, and Ultra Leather sofa, lounge chair and pilot and passenger seats.

A 31-footer and 34-footer, both with two slideouts, lead off the Epic series, with two more floor plans to follow.
